This was an amazing year for Mario! Mario took the initiative to ask our Community Outreach Coordinator, Erika, for a job. We love the eagerness and willingness to learn. Mario has now secured a job at Subway Restaurants located just downstairs from Dreams.

Lana has come to Dreams beyond her regular days to help our Program Supervisor, Vanessa, to assemble bracelets for our Simply Beautiful jewellery line! The bracelets that are created are a huge aspect of our fundraising! Not only do members learn about colours, numbers and patterning by making bracelets, but they also get the opportunity to practice math and customer service when raising money to support Dreams! Lana’s hard work and dedication in the Simply Beautiful Studio is definitely appreciated!

2016 was an active year for Jim. He began a fitness regime that included seeing a personal trainer from Integrated Training Studios in Newmarket. Jim's progress has been nothing short of incredible and inspiring. Jim started with limited range of motion that impacted his ability to perform the most basic activities of daily living. He lacked the strength to safely sit & stand, climb stairs or bend down to pick something up. Through strength training and balance exercises Jim has made significant strides to improve his health. We have watched Jim regain his ability to bend down, navigate stairs & curbs as well as a substantial improvement to his balance. The new found pep in Jim's step is extraordinary. So is the sense of pride & accomplishment that we now see in Jim. Jim is a great example of someone who never gives up!

Beverly is one of our newest members at The Centre for Dreams. Her love of reading has helped her develop an incredible imagination and a passion for solving mysteries! It was the staff who had to do some detective work in the beginning. Beverly's shy nature was impeding her ability to make new friends and fully engage in program. Once staff got to know Beverly they were able to crack the case! Beverly has made major strides in creating new friendships at Dreams. She actively participates in program and is even planning on teaching a lesson of her own in the near future. Beverly has recently begun a work placement that is sure to take her self-confidence to the next level. Beverly has shown courage by pushing outside of her comfort zone. We are excited to see what the future holds for this resilient young woman.
